A success story in brief….
Back in 2006, OTENET a subsidiary of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (OTE SA), organized the first National Innovation contest called ‘Innovation 2006‘. I took part in the contest by submitting my idea for a modern web-based tool to facilitate the daily life of both local governments and citizens. My project’s code name was: “mashup καθημερινότητας” (something like: daily mashup). My project won the second place in the contest.
The evolution of the idea and its commercial application, successfully implemented in Greece by the end of 2010. This is the web application www.kathimerinotita.gr . Several local governments cooperate with the kathimerinotita.gr service, reducing operating costs, improving information flow, getting better data management, but primarily by opening a new channel of modern communication and information directly to the public. Currently the project is in a huge re-design phase and remains non functional.
